Community News

Muscatine City Council Meeting

The Muscatine City Council will meet on March 6 at 6 p.m. to hold three public hearings and recognize the Muscatine High School State Bowling Championship Team.

The discussions will cover:

  1. Transferring two right-of-way areas to property owners, the first off of Van Buren Street and the second off of Pearlview Court

  2. Plans for the Lake Park Boulevard Bridge Deck Overlay Project. The bridge deck, currently deteriorating, needs repairs to prevent full replacement.

The Council will also set five public hearings for March 20 and approve various city projects.

  1. Amending City Ordinance to mirror State Historic Building Code

  2. West Hill Sewer Separation Phase 6D Project

  3. Fulliam Avenue Reconstruction Phase 3 Project

  4. Cured-In-Place Pipe Liner Project

  5. Snow removal equipment at Muscatine Municipal Airport

  6. Accept completed work on the Grandview Avenue Reconstruction Project; and,

  7. Award contracts to Sulzco, Inc. for the demolition of structures at 718 East 7th Street and 506 Spring Street.

Construction for New Campground

Construction began March 3, 2025 for a new campground located at Deep Lakes Park on the south side of Muscatine. The campground will feature 22 full-hookup campsites with 20-30-50 amp electric, sewer, and water. The sites will vary from back in and pull through.

West Hill sewer work resumes

Roscoe Avenue will be closed to through traffic from West 11th Street to Dillway starting Monday, March 10, for a water main relocation as part of the West Hill Sewer Separation Phase 6C Project. The closure will last into summer, with sewer separation work beginning in three weeks.

Open Positions for City Board and Commissions

The City of Muscatine is looking to fill positions on four of the boards and commissions authorized by the City including the Art Center Board of Directors, Public Art Commission, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, and the Zoning Board of Adjustments.

A seasonal job fair will take place from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on March 22, 2025, at the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course. For more information, please contact the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department at (563) 263-0241.


A Muscatine resident and his dogs were safely rescued from a structure fire on Tuesday by an off-duty firefighter, a neighbor, and on-duty personnel. The family attended the Muscatine City Council meeting on Thursday to express their gratitude to the off-duty firefighter.
